[Merlin's voice, slightly muffled because of the distance at first, is much clearer when he speaks again
after a few seconds, though he sounds anything but cheerful. If anything, he sounds sullen.]

It's Merlin. Sorry I missed you. I'm probably at the hospital or... [here, he pauses,
then continues like the words are being dragged out of him in the most painful manner possible.] Or being useful for my amazingly skilled, patient, and forgiving master instead of
dallying about and picking flowers like the girl's petticoat I usually am.

[A pained moment of silence.]

[After a brief call to let Soushi he’s on his way (as promised), Merlin heads over after his shift. He knocks when he gets to the right door.]

Soushi, it’s me.

[After hearing the call, he will quickly head towards the door with a polite smile on his lips.]

Good day, Merlin-san. It's wonderful to see you again. Please, come in.

[He will open the door and step aside to allow the other man to enter.]

Murai-san is by his cage, close to the window. The tea and sweets should be ready soon. It would be an honor if you made yourself at home.

Hey, it's good to see you again.

[Merlin walks in, making a bee line for the cage. He peers into it, trying to get a glimpse of the bird.]

[As Merlin checks on Murai, who will be staring at the man before returning to his proper grooming, Soushi will head to his own corner to prepare the tea in a proper serving glass.]

Not at all. It was my pleasure. My only hope is you enjoy Oolong tea and cookies to go along with them.

[He will add the serving glass in the middle of a near by table he had prepared for Merlin to use whenever he wished to take a seat. Once he found everything to be in their place, Soushi's attention will be on Merlin as he wonders.] Murai-sama knows a few phrases. Why do you not try to speak to him?

He knows how to speak? [This is kind of a new concept for him.] Of course he does—this is Asgard.

[Merlin looks right at the bird this time.] Hullo, Murai. Looks like you’ve been doing fairly well.

A few phrases, yes. They must have been all taught by his original owner.

[He won't speak about the owner as it's a sensitive subject instead he will allow Murai to take care of the rest.

The small bird will stare back at Merlin when it said its name. He will turn his head to the side until he begins to move it up and down.]

Doing well. Fairly well. Miketsukami-kun is well. Yesss! [The "yes" will be said quite loudly as he flaps his wings.]
