[Merlin's voice, slightly muffled because of the distance at first, is much clearer when he speaks again
after a few seconds, though he sounds anything but cheerful. If anything, he sounds sullen.]

It's Merlin. Sorry I missed you. I'm probably at the hospital or... [here, he pauses,
then continues like the words are being dragged out of him in the most painful manner possible.] Or being useful for my amazingly skilled, patient, and forgiving master instead of
dallying about and picking flowers like the girl's petticoat I usually am.

[A pained moment of silence.]

It's a relief. I mean, I'm still being careful, but it's not something that is constantly at the front of my mind.

But, relief aside, really - is something going on with you that you're avoiding talking about it?

[But his own relief is short-lived. He winces. Wow how did Erica even do that?]

I spent most of my life watching people avoid talking about my epilepsy. I can sort of see it really easily.

[It makes sense, but Merlin still shifts around uneasily.]

Er. Not sure you really want to hear about it.

[It's muttered, almost too soft for Erica to hear.]

[She shakes her head.]

If you're avoiding talking about it, that means you haven't had many people to talk to about it.

You can trust me. I swear I can keep a secret. [She hasn't even told Sam that Isaac is a werewolf back home.]

It's, well. [He can feel his face starting to turn red again, and he covers it with his hands, mortified.

His next words comes out a little muffled.]

Have you, erm, ever had feelings for more than one person before?

[Erica hasn't ever really had many feelings for many people... she's never been the type of girl that a lot of people would be interested in.]

No, but I'm only 16. I mean I had a crush on someone and now I am dating Sam, and I love Sam, but they didn't overlap.

[His confidence shrinks just a bit. But she isn’t shying away from the conversation, so Merlin continues on, timidly.]

That’s, er, sort of where I am now. Liking two people. Well—actually, it’s sort of more complicated than that. I’m already with one of them, and she’s said she likes Arth—the other person, as well.

Yeah...we all sort of. Like each other, I suppose. It's difficult to tell with him sometimes.

[But he perks because, really, there's someone else who has the same headache?]

Yeah. I mean, I think sometimes those things can't be helped. You can't control who you love otherwise it'd be a lot easier to manage.

[Actually... that might make things more difficult. The blame would be easy to shift onto others. It'd actually be the other person who would be at fault for not loving the other. It's complicated either way it falls.]
